    Enjoy quality time with one of our sweet ponies. For 45 minutes, participants are riding and grooming while two parents or side walkers (must be age 13 or older) are by their side.     155300 - H.A.L.T.E.R.S. Program

    H.A.L.T.E.R.S. (Helping At Lockwood Through Education, Responsibility, Safety). Training Program Availability: May 1st- August 31st, and weekends in October. If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity where you can gain some skills in the work world and make new friends at the same time, Lockwood Park wants you! You can work with the animals, help with various farm and ranch chores, and gain other valuable work skills while having an enjoyable time at Lockwood Park. This is a program that will last a lifetime with the knowledge and skills you will receive from our trained staff. Leadership training and team-building are all a part of this tremendous summer program! Adults are also welcome to join the H.A.L.T.E.R.S. training program. All volunteers must participate in the certification program. Certain programs are offered to our older volunteers to enhance their educational experience but may not be appropriate for our younger volunteers.

    Note: Cost for participants new to the program is $40 for residents and $60 for non-residents to off-set training and t-shirt costs. Adults ages 18 and up and returning HALTERS volunteers participate for free. Volunteer’s ages12 and 13 years olds must have a parent or guardian accompany them.

Little Buckaroo Pony Camp is a great way to introduce your child to animals and summer camp. Each week will offer horse-related and camp activities: arts and crafts, tie-dyeing, hikes, games, songs and ponies. In addition to this fantastic week, a special horse show will be held on Friday each week beginning at 3:00 pm. Each camper will have a chance to share what they have learned and experienced throughout the week. Campers’ families and friends are welcome to attend. Campers will also learn about horse disciplines, the breeds used in the disciplines, and their history. Our camp also includes traditional activities such as games, movies, tie-dyeing, educational hikes, and more! This camp experience is equivalent to Level 1 Western-Saddle Up and Level 2 Western-Bits and Reins in the Lockwood Group Riding Lesson Program.

This camp will use ponies to teach young campers the basics of riding through fun games and riding drills. The campers will ride the same ponies each day, learning the breed, color, and characteristics of their pony. Little Buckaroo Pony Camp is a great way to introduce your child to animals and summer camp. Each week will offer horse-related and camp activities: arts and crafts, tie-dyeing, hikes, games, songs and ponies. In addition to this fantastic week, a special horse show will be held on Friday each week beginning at 3:00 pm. Each camper will have a chance to share what they have learned and experienced throughout the week. Campers’ families and friends are welcome to attend.     If your child has always wanted to ride their own horse, this is the camp for them. Campers will be learning mounting and dismounting, proper spacing while riding, reversing, the extended walk, and some trotting, if the group is ready. Whenever the campers are not riding, they are learning all about horses from hoof to tail, including a visit from a veterinarian and a natural horsemanship demonstration. Campers will also learn about horse disciplines, the breeds used in the disciplines, and their history. Our camp also includes traditional activities such as games, movies, tie-dyeing, educational hikes, and more! This camp experience is equivalent to Level 1 Western-Saddle Up and Level 2 Western-Bits and Reins in the Lockwood Group Riding Lesson Program.

    155101 - My Little Pony

    Enjoy quality time with one of our sweet ponies. For 45 minutes, participants are riding and grooming while two parents or side walkers (must be age 13 or older) are by their side. Children ride in the arena with assistance from one side walker, while the other leads the pony. If the group is able, one lesson is a trail ride. Class limited to six participants. Two side walkers are required. We can provide them, if needed, for an extra fee paid in advance.
    •If needed: $17 extra for 1 side walker, and $34 extra for 2 side walkers.
